College Events
Our Later Years Subject Selections have now concluded where every Year 9, 10 and 11 students had an interview in relation to their Pathways and preferred subject. It was wonderful to hear about the aspirations of our students. More so, it was great that our students were well-researched and had an in-depth understanding of achieving their goals. Over the coming weeks, the Later Years Team will review students' preferences and design a structure that best caters to our students’ subject preferences. I wish to acknowledge the efforts of Mr Stevens and the Later Years Team, as well as staff volunteers, for their work.
The Student Voice Leaders also visited our Acadia Age Care in our work to engage greater with our community and for our students to connect/build relationships with people from a difference generation. Thank you to Ms Whittingham for her work in building this important partnership It was a delight to welcome our Mayor of Moonee Valley City Council Pierce Tyson as guest speaker to our Term 3 Assembly. Mayor Tyson, a former student at BPC addressed the entire school about resilience, which was enjoyed by everyone. It was wonderful to hear some of the musical pieces from the production performed and celebrate as a school the recognition of our students’ achievements in sports, NAPLAN, Languages, Visual and Performing Arts. I’m proud to see so many of our students receiving awards across so many fields which reflects the diverse talents of our student community.
In the following weeks, our annual production, “Imagine this”, will be performed at the Clock Tower theatre. I’m excited to see our students showcase their creative efforts on stage after seven months of rehearsals. Our Year 9 students will be heading to Rubicon for their camp, Year 10 students will head up to Mt Buller for their Ski Camp, and our Year 11 will have their Senior Ball.
2024 Student Numbers
The college is anticipating a Year 7 intake between 190-210, which, if over 200 students, will be challenging on a budgetary and infrastructure level. With this intake, our preliminary projection is the college will have a student population of between 900 students.
Thanks
I’m grateful for the continual efforts and support from our community. This year we have seen positive outcomes in our learning, attendance and retention data. This is only possible due to the consistent processes in place at the college and the dedication of the college staff. I’m also thankful for our family support of the college in their support of the college and reinforcing our expectations.
