Buckley Park College proudly has four houses: Buckley, Croft, Graves and Hoffman.

Students and staff are allocated a house when they join the school and they remain in the same house throughout their time at BPC

Our Houses

In 1963, the College was build on land which was owned by Mr Buckley, a brother of the founder of the department store Buckley & Nunn

A portion of land east of Hoffman’s Road was sold to a German migrant, Mr Hoffman, who called his homestead “Beitzbach”

In 1964 the property was passed to the Croft family who retained the name “Beitzbach”, but Police Superintendent Graves, a later owner, changed the name to Benalta

Benalta is an aboriginal word for a type of game bird. Benalta is now the name of our College Magazine which is produced annually.

In 2023 our House Logos were designed by students in the Art Club, with guidance from Art Teacher Sally Packham in 2023. The designs depict local fauna and flora found in the area and the iconic footbridge over the Maribyrnong River at Aberfeldie.

Competitions are arranged throughout the year where students compete to gain points for their house.

These Competitions are:

  • Theatre Festival (usually held in April), the winning House receives the 'Theatre Festival Trophy for House Drama'.

The points awarded for each individual competition are put together to find the overall House winner for the year.
