2018 BPC ART SHOW

The 2018 Buckley Park Art Exhibition showcased over 850 works from Studio Art, Media, Art, Visual Communication Design and Wood. This year Milly Cram opened the event with a lovely speech that reflected upon her achievements in 2017, having exhibited her Visual Communication Design folio and Final Designs in the Fireworks Exhibition at Incinerator Gallery in Moonee Ponds and in the Melbourne Museum as part of the prestigious Top Designs Exhibition.

The Buckley Park Jazz Band played atmospheric and sophisticated tunes that set the tone for a lovely evening. Year 12 students Sophie-Rose Gestos and Tristan Chan were awarded prizes in Studio Arts and

Media for extraordinary work in their subject areas.

The following students from year 7 to 11 were awarded prizes for their impressive works: Year 7 Olivia Tsembas (printmaking), Depak Parackal Alex (drawing), Vi Nguyen (ceramics), Jemma Rowntree (painting). Year 8 Johanna Knox (painting), Ben Shea (drawing), Miranda Taylor (ceramics), Carla Savidis (printmaking). Year 9 Corin Davis (VCD), Sarah D’Addario (Art). Year 10 Olivia Doyle (VCD), Kayla Janides (Art) and Year 11 Cuba De Silva (VCD), Farrah Davis (Art).

Our fabulous Art teacher Denise Truscott welcomed and thanked attendees and acknowledged the staff and volunteers who assisted in the display and sitting the exhibition. A special mention was made for

Jill La Salle, who volunteered to help set up the show, demonstrating over 40 years of expertise and tremendous generosity!

Each year the Buckley Park Art Exhibition provides the whole school community an opportunity to appreciate the creativity, ideas and skills of students across the Visual Arts. Congratulations to all students and teachers on their hard work and achievements in the Visual Arts so far in 2018. Creativity and design supports the ethos of any community, and as Albert Einstein has famously said, “Creativity is contagious. Pass it on”.
