VCAL students leading Positive Education lessons for RUOK Day
RUOK day is a national initiative encouraging all age groups to support each other in everyday life, particularly when experiencing mental health challenges. For students, learning how to support their peers and talk about how they feel is an important life lesson, so at Buckley Park College, VCAL students have taken the responsibility to teach year 8 students how to start these important conversations. Encouraging others to connect to someone they care about and helping stop little problems from becoming big ones has been the focus of these lessons.
Year 8 students have been planning events for the whole college on the national RUOK day, on Thursday September 13. Our wonderful VCAL students have been supporting the Year 8 classes to plan these events, whilst at the same time meeting their Personal Development outcomes which are part of their VCAL program.
Year 8 students Dominique Italiano and Hrithik Nilmadhub (lifted up) are photographed with the VCAL students for teaching them the language of resilience.
RU OK? Day is our national day of action dedicated to reminding everyone that any day is the day to ask, “Are you ok?” and support those struggling with life . Taking part can be as simple as learning
R U OK?'s four steps so you can have a conversation that could change a life.
